Frequently asked questions

Why did my PDF not get smaller?

If the source is already optimized (e.g. pure text with no images), there's little to compress. Try text-heavy PDFs with our Merger instead — no re-encoding there.

What quality setting should I use?

70% + 144 DPI is a great balance for emailing and web use. Use 90%/200 DPI if you need to print, or 50%/96 DPI for the smallest file.

Is the text still selectable after compressing?

No — this compressor rasterizes each page. If you need searchable text, use the original PDF or run OCR afterwards.
